ORTON-GILLINGHAM LESSONS
Orton-Gillingham is the Gold Standard for dyslexic students

Enrolling new students during January. Our one-to-one lessons will raise your child's performance to meet his or her potential. Help your child learn to read at grade level.  "Teach out" the reading difficulty by enriching their brain's language association area with phonemic awareness and simultaneous kinesthetic, tactile, visual, and auditory multisensory practice with alphabetic letter and sound knowledge. Choose the tutoring which was created for dyslexics and has a sixty year history of success, Orton-Gillingham, a multisensory, sequential, structured language education strategy.

Choose language therapists teaching for professional membership levels in the only program in North Carolina that is accredited by two international accrediting bodies, The Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators (AOGPE) and The International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council, Inc.(IMSLEC). Greenhills School is a training site for AOGPE and presents Institutes and tutoring accredited by AOGPE and IMSLEC.

The program is headed by Marjory Roth, who has been a Fellow of AOGPE since 1997 and is a member of the Board of Directors of IMSLEC.

One-to-one classic Orton-Gillingham lessons are available three days weekly. These lessons are for 45 minutes and are available from 1:15 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m., 3:30 p.m. until 4:15 p.m. and from 4:15 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Greenhills School. Lessons are scheduled on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

A fee of $50 a lesson is charged. Psycho-educational testing results are required for admission to the program. Parent consultations and conferences are free. Placement Testing is scheduled for no additional fee during the first two lessons. Mrs. June Lyday Orton found that three days weekly are required to ensure the student's good progress, and we abide by her experience to gain full advantage of our teachers' effort and your time and treasure.

Any lessons missed due to illness, a doctor's appointment, a special program, or inclement weather should be rescheduled if the Orton-Gillingham teacher and parents can find a mutually agreeable time.

All teachers have successfully completed the 65 hour Associate Level course work toward The Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators membership and some are teaching as part of their three-year Supervised Practicum for various levels of membership in AOGPE. Many have taught the Orton-Gillingham approach for five years or more. Marjory Roth supervises the teaching, reviews all lesson plans, is available for questions, in addition to your tutor, and meets with parents and their child's tutor at conferences. Mrs. Roth will be assisted with observations by Amy Rominger, Fellow-in-Training/AOGPE. Mrs. Rominger and Ms. Anne Glenn, language therapist, will assist Mrs. Roth with teacher's lesson planning.
